On-Street Two Hour Parking Up and Running, Pay Stations Installed Tomorrow

Downtown Coordinator for the Town of Boone penned this letter to downtown merchants and property owners to provide them with an update of the parking situation downtown:

Dear Downtown Boone Merchants and Property Owners,

Last Thursday evening, the Boone Town Council voted to increase the time limits for on-street parking meters.

The on-street meters will now allow for up to two hours of parking. Once the two hours has expired visitors may return to the meter and add more time. The rate for on-street parking remains $1 per hour and enforcement is Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Wednesday, June 24 the Town of Boone and the IPS Group will install pay stations at the King and Depot street parking lots. The King Street parking lot is located next to Boone Town Hall, and the Depot Street parking lot is located on the corner of Depot and Queen streets.

The pay stations will utilize the pay-and-display enforcement method, which requires the visitor to pay for time and place the receipt printed side up in their vehicle’s dashboard. Visitors to downtown Boone who would like to stay for an extended period of time should use these multi-hour, long-term parking areas.

  • The pay stations will accept coins, debit and credit cards.
  • The rate for the King and Depot street lots will be $1 per hour.
  • Enforcement will be Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Visitors must place their receipt in their vehicle’s dashboard with the printed side visible to parking enforcement officers.

Starting the beginning of July, Town of Boone staff will install blue, multi-hour, parking banners. These banners will assist visitors in locating the multi-hour parking lots.

Thank you for your input and patience as we continue to implement the new parking management system in downtown Boone.
