National board certification validates expertise and recognizes a nurse’s commitment to professional development. It is an objective, measurable way of acknowledging the achievement of specialty knowledge beyond basic nursing preparation and RN licensure.

Established in 1975, the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) is the leading certification organization for pediatric nursing. The PNCB’s mission is to provide the highest quality certification services for nursing professionals who care for pediatric populations. PNCB exams are recognized and endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Pediatric Nurses, the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. The CPN exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
