Dec. 23, 2014. Equal with the nation’s jobless rate, North Carolina’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in November was 5.8 percent, which is a decrease of 0.5 percent from October’s revised rate of 6.3 percent, according to the latest report from the N.C. Department of Commerce.
This is 1.4 percent lower than last year’s November unemployment rate.
“The number of people employed increased 9,964 over the month to 4,362,813, and increased 31,498 over the year. The number of people unemployed decreased 23,498 over the month to 270,675, and declined 63,163 over the year,” according to the report.
The latest county jobless rates to be released are for October. Watauga County has an unemployment rate of 5 percent, which is lower than September’s 5.3 percent rate. Watauga ranks in the top 15 out of 100 counties for lowest unemployment rate in the state.
Avery County decreased 0.5 percent from the month of September to October and currently sits at 5.7 percent.
Ashe County’s unemployment rate for October was 6.3 percent. That’s down from 6.9 percent in September.
