Northwestern Studios has used Petipa’s iconic choreography as a basis for their production an has adapted the story for their young dancers.

“We love to have our dancers learn historic choreography by the great Petipa, who is considered the founder of classical ballet,” states production director Wendy Fletcher.

The Animated GardenThe ballet features a magical garden that comes to life when two village girls save a group of butterflies from a gigantic spider. As a reward for their kindness, beautiful Garden Fairies guide the Village Girls through their garden. Flowers that grow, busy bees, a mischievous garden gnome, sunbursts, moonbeams and proud peacocks all inhabit the Animated Garden.

Featured performers are Madison Casey, Carrington Haas and Sarah Patrick with Lily Cavanaugh and Isabella Cutillo. The ballet is staged by Courtney Boccardy and assisted by Stacey Trivett, Stephanie Bengston and Rebecca Miller.
