Nov. 25, 2014. Traffic in Blowing Rock will flow a little smoother in the days before and after Thanksgiving, saving motorists time and money as they travel to their holiday destinations.
The N.C. Department of Transportation is suspending lane closures on the U.S. 321 widening project from Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 6 a.m. through Monday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. In addition, construction operations will be limited during this time to prevent major impacts to holiday travelers.
NCDOT reminds all motorists to drive slowly and use caution in work zones. Although construction operations won’t have a major impact on the traveling public, there will still be crews from contractor Maymead, Inc. working on the project during this time.
The speed limit along U.S. 321 remains 35 miles per hour, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol continues to monitor this corridor for speeding violations.
Call the project information line at (828) 964-3260 to speak to an NCDOT representative about the project from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please note that the information line will not be available on Nov. 27-28.
