A Night with Charlie Brown: A Stephenson Center for Appalachia Lecture Event Jan. 25

BANNER ELK, N.C. —The Stephenson Center for Appalachia will kick off another year Thursday, Jan. 25 with a performance by popular local musician, Charlie Brown. The night will begin at 7 p.m. at Evans Auditorium in the Cannon Student Center.

Charlie Brown is a multi-instrumental singer-songwriter who grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. His music draws from artists like Doc Watson, Jack White and Jason Isbell as well as from genres like bluegrass, jazz, blues and folk. Currently recording his first full-length album, Charlie splits his time between Chapel Hill and Banner Elk, North Carolina.

“This young musician represents a new generation in mountain music, and we are pleased to be able to welcome a Banner Elk native to the stage in his home town,” Michael Joslin, director of the Stephenson Center for Appalachia, said. “We invite everyone to join us to hear the sounds of an Appalachian star in the making.”

Stephenson Center events are free and open to the public. Learn more about the Stephenson Center for Appalachia >>
