New York Times Bestselling Author, Leigh Ann Henion, to Speak at Friends of the Library, May 2

The public is invited to attend the annual meeting of Watauga County’s Friends of the Library at noon on Tuesday, May 2, in the Library’s Johnson Meeting Room. The Friends will strike a different note this year with a luncheon catered by Farm Cafe and music provided by Cane Mill Road, a local string band. Watauga author Leigh Ann Henion will have star billing to talk about her recent book, Phenomenal. Lunch and live music will begin at noon, and Ms. Henion will speak at approximately 1 p.m. 

The suggested donation for the lunch (soup, sandwich, salad, drink) is $8. Anyone desiring to attend the luncheon is asked to cal Monica Caruso to make a reservation (264-8784, ext. 4). Everyone is invited to attend both the lunch and the program with the author, but if the noon hour is not convenient, people are urged to come at 1 p.m. to hear Ms. Henion (no charge for the speaker). 

Leigh Ann Henion is the New York Times bestselling author of Phenomenal: A Hesitant Adventurer’s Search for Wonder in the Natural World. The book is about how she chased eclipses, migrations and other natural phenomena around the glove to reawaken her sense of wonder. Phenomenal was named an editor’s pick by O: The Oprah Magazine, Backpacker and Barnes & Noble Review. Elizabeth Gilbert called it a “gorgeously written and deeply thoughtful memoir,” and The Sydney Morning Herald declared that “even a cynic reading Phenomenal will yearn for a taste of wonder.”
