New Opportunity School for Women at Lees-McRae Accepting Applications for Summer 2017 Session

The New Opportunity School for Women at Lees-McRae College is accepting applications for the program’s annual summer session.

The program’s mission is to improve the educational, financial and personal circumstances of low-income women–who live in or come from the Southern Appalachian region.

This summer will be the 12th year of the residential program at Lees-McRae. This year’s session will begin Sunday, June 11 and end with a graduation celebration on Saturday, July1.

The three-week residential program comes at no cost to the participants and assistance with travel and child costs is available. Participants explore career and educational opportunities while also developing personally. Applicants should have or be working toward a GED or high school diploma, be of low-income and have an interest in a new career and/or higher education.

Founded in 1987 at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky, the New Opportunity School for Women opened an expansion site at Lees-McRae in 2005.
