April 14, 2014. Since Thursday, April 3, lottery players in North Carolina won more than $23.6 million in prizes including five prizes from $100,000 to $1 million. Patricia Russell of Knoxville, Tenn. has claimed a $1 million Powerball prize from the Oct. 30, 2013 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at a Kangaroo Express in Fayetteville.
“I thought I was dreaming,” Gregory Robinson said. “I woke up my wife to check the numbers and she said it was real. It was a real shocker. This feels good.”
Roland Hinson of Hubert is the first player to win the top prize playing the $200,000 Grant game.
After state and federal taxes were withheld, Efrain Sanchez received a check for $69,201.

Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $20 million if taken as an annuity or $11.1 million if taken as a lump sum.
