National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch for the High Country Through Tuesday Evening

By Jesse Wood

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the High Country through Tuesday as round of showers moves in before a cold front.

The National Weather Service noted that heavy rain is possible through Tuesday evening. Also numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in the watch area during the day.

“Rainfall could be heavy at times resulting in one to three inches across parts of the region by tonight,” the flood watch states, adding that it would take just two inches of rainfall to produce flooding.

While areal flooding of small streams and creeks may occur if the expected amount of rainfall takes place, minor flooding of mainstream rivers is low at this time, the watch reads.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
