Nov. 3, 2014. The search is on for a player who purchased a MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB™ ticket worth $1 million in Duplin County.

The lucky player won in the Education Lottery’s exclusive one-time drawing last Friday night, Oct. 24. The winning ticket was purchased at the Wilco located on N.C. 41 South in Wallace. The winning number in the drawing was: NC-2191-0006-7887.

Other than the $1 million winner, players in the MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB game collected $60,849 in prizes this week, including seven prizes of $500. Friday’s top prize is $18 million if taken as an annuity or $11 million if taken as a lump sum. If the jackpot is won tonight, 12 additional winners across the country will be chosen to win a $1 million MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB prize.

Mega Millions and Powerball Report

Players trying their luck in this weekend’s jackpot games have two chances to win a nine-figure prize.

Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $284 million if taken as an annuity or $172 million if taken as a lump sum. The jackpot has rolled since a player in California matched all six numbers in the Aug. 22 drawing to win the $180 million jackpot.

In the Oct. 24 Mega Millions drawing, 51,145 tickets won prizes ranging from $1 to $5,000, totaling $136,497. In Tuesday’sdrawing, 53,787 tickets won $148,249 in prizes ranging from $1 to $5,000.

Saturday’s Powerball players have the chance to win a $159 million jackpot if taken as an annuity or $99.9 million if taken as a lump sum.

Wednesday’s Powerball drawing produced 13,254 winning tickets ranging from $4 to $10,000 totaling $107,743. The Saturday, Oct. 25 Powerball drawing produced 16,818 winning tickets ranging from $4 to $10,000, totaling $111,895.

Big Winner Report

Two $1 million prizes, a Cash 5 jackpot and a second-time instant scratch-off winner highlight a week that brought more than $21.7 million in prizes to lottery players across the state.

The first $1 million prize of the week went to Diana Forbes, a retiree from Elizabeth City, who plans to use her Powerball winnings to pay off her mortgage, travel and purchase new American-made cars for herself and for her son. {Read more}

The second big winner is a bit of a fish tale. James Harrison, a retired catfish farmer from Robersonville in Martin County, plans to use the $1 million prize he won playing the $200 Million Blowout game to buy a boat and save for his grandchildren’s education. {Read more}

Luck struck for a second time this week for Jesus Lugo, a Mexican restaurant owner from Carthage. In 2009, he won $100,000 playing the lottery’s Mega Bucks game. On Tuesday, he once again beat the odds when he became the first player to scratch off the $200,000 top prize in the “$” game. {Read more}

The final big winner of the week was Brenda Highsmith of Pitt County, who won the Carolina Cash 5 jackpot on Mondaynight, beating odds of 1 in 575,757 to win $209,282. {Read more}

Overall, instant scratch-off players in North Carolina won more than $16.7 million in prizes since Thursday, Oct. 23. During that time, players of draw games won $5 million in total prizes.
