The winner of a $1 million Mega Millions prize has already collected his prize money and two $1 million Powerball prizes have yet to be claimed.

Two Powerball players collected the $10,000 prizes they won in recent drawings. Paul Hess of Wilmington won in the May 20 drawing and Roger Mann of Zirconia won in Wednesday’s drawing.

From May 29 through June 4, instant players won $24.7 million and draw game players won more than $6.8 million, including $3.1 million from North Carolina draw games Pick 3, Pick 4, Cash 5 and All or Nothing. Since last weekend’s drawings, Mega Millions and Powerball players won more than $3.7 million in prizes. In all, players won more than $31.5 million in prizes statewide.
Ticket sales have made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $3.8 billion for the state. Net proceeds will be used this year to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, for school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
