The old Mountain Villa Motor Lodge property, located near Walgreens and the Boone Golf Club, is now demolished, and the site pad looks ready for the construction of a new 54-foot-tall hotel.
Earlier this year, the Boone Board of Adjustment approved of a proposed development for the 5.89-acre property: a TownePlace Suites by Marriott. See the attached artist rendering of the development that was included in planning documents.

Boone Planning and Inspections Director Jane Shook said that the project is currently in the zoning and building permit process.
“I am not sure exactly when the permits will be issued but I expect it to be soon. Once permits have been issued I expect land-disturbing activities to begin immediately,” Shook noted in an email.
In April, the Boone Town Council also approved a 2.59-acre annexation within the nearly 6 acres of property where the TownePlace Suites will be located. The property is owned by Waltson Associates, based out of Sevierville, Tenn.
