Don’t Cry For Me, Margaret Mitchell

Hilarious, irreverent and mostly true.  It’s 1939, and David O. Selznick has already begun filming “Gone with the Wind” when he realizes his script is a dud.  Only the legendary screenwriter Ben Hecht can save the day, but Hecht has never read the book!  Selznick locks himself, Hecht and director Victor Fleming in his office with only bananas and peanuts to eat, and a single mission:  help Hecht write a new script in exactly one week.  See the outrageous antics that produced one of the classic movies of all time.Heritage Hall will host Barter Theatre’s production of this hilarious play on Tuesday, April 29. Tickets are $15 in advance of $18 at the door.

Johnson County High School Concert

Directed by Lisa Zeggert, the JCHS Show Choir will perform on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10. Admission to this event is free and seating is open.

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz comes to the High Country for three nights May 9, 10 and 11 presented by JCHS Players and Johnson County Young Artists. Both the high school students and the young artists are really excited about combining efforts to produce this great American classic musical, complete with the munchkins, monkeys, witches, and of course Dorothy, the Scare Crow, the Tin Man, the Lion, and OZ ‘himself’.  There’s also a great message regarding the power of identity and home.  This will be great entertainment and enlightenment for the entire family and a great way to support local youth. Tickets to this classic musical will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids.

Kody Norris & The Watauga Mountain Boys

Kody Norris is a deeply-rooted native of Johnson County.  Known for his diversity, Kody not only sings, he also plays several instruments including guitar, mandolin, and banjo.  He and his band travel around the country to give people a professional show they won’t forget.  The have established a hard driving blend of bluegrass music along with a unique lonesome mountain sound.  Although young, their sound and stage presence has been rated highly among veteran musicians.  This will be Kody’s eighth annual homecoming concert at Heritage Hall and he has a good reputation for giving the audience a great show. Tickets for this diverse bluegrass performance are $10 in advance or $12 at the door and $5 for students and will run on May 17 at 7 p.m.
