Everybody loves a cruise-in and especially when it’s for a good cause. Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., classic car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to support the foreign mission work of a local church, while putting their classic and chromed beauties on display for everyone to see.
Perkinsville Baptist Church in Boone will be hosting Motors for Missions as a unique way to raise funds for their mission outreach to India.
According to church pastor Seth Norris, the event will benefit South Indian pastors by providing motorcycles for them to use in their ministry travels between villages. It’s something near and dear to his heart, Norris said, and a tangible way for his Boone church to help spread the gospel of Christ in a distant land. Each motorcycle costs about $1,000, Norris said, and many are needed.
Church members Jeff Shore and Jess McNeil are working together to coordinate the event, both possessing a great knowledge and love for classic cars, but mostly, a desire for helping others.
Shore is a long time member and current president of High Country Classic Car Club. “This is not going to be a car show, with trophies or anything like that,” he said. “It’s just going to be a great time for folks to bring in their vehicles to display so that others can stop by and fellowship with us, and help out with a good cause.”
Cars, bikes and trucks are all welcome, Shore said.
There will be food available for purchase, as well as door prizes, a raffle and silent auction.
Perkinsville Baptist Church is located at 274 Jefferson Road in Boone, near the New Market Shopping Center.
