While the ASU Mountaineers ended the season 4-8, the football team finished strong in its SoCon finale and remained the keeper of the “Old Mountain Jug” after beating Western Carolina 48-27 in late November. ASU Football also announced a logo change to the “Victory Yosef,” a throwback, vintage logo.

What started out as 15-acre fire in the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area soon grew to more than 2,500 acres in a matter of days. To see photos and updates from the fire, click here and here. In early December, the U.S. Forest Service reported that the fire was 100 percent contained.

With all of the leaves off the trees, authorities were shocked to find a “meth hut” that caused one of the largest – if not the largest – meth cleanup responses in the state, right smack dab in the middle of town on county-owned property, the old Watauga High School site.
