Dec. 21, 2012. More than 100 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina is closed because of winter-weather conditions.

Much of the closures take place in the vicinity of Asheville and the southwestern part of the state.

Milepost 344.1 at N.C. 80 to Milepost 382 at the Folk Art Center is closed due to snow in some areas and debris in other areas.

Milepost 393.6 at N.C. 191 Brevard Road to Milepost 469.1 at U.S. 441 at the end of the parkway is closed due to snow, ice and debris in the roads.

While sections of parkway near the High Country are still open, Steve Lewis with the Blue Ridge Parkway advised that high-wind conditions, downed trees and branches are possible and to proceed with caution.
