‘More for Les’ Concert at Murphy’s to Support Watauga Native Leslie Goodwin on June 25

High country performers are coming together to raise money to help Leslie Goodwin Jr., a born and raised Boone native now living in Atlanta, Georgia. The event will be held at 10 p.m. on June 25 at Murphy’s Pub in Boone.

Goodwin is still healing from emergency open heart surgery due to complications with Marfan Syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder affecting bone development, eye sight and arterial wall density. After 41 days in the hospital, an aorta replacement, beating an e.coli infection in his heart and a valve replacement, his body is slowly healing while doctors regulate his blood pressure and heart rate. He needs our help to heal while he is unable to work and needs followup medical care. Admission will be $2 at the door. All proceeds go to the More For Les Fund.

The sensational local favorite Melissa Reaves will be performing as well as The Hot Club of Lenoir, a Django Reinhardt inspired gypsy jazz ensemble.  We will also host the Boone-a-rang Jam featuring members of Boone bands of old such as BPL, Lady & the Krunk, and Band of Gypsies.

In addition, there will be a slew of raffle prizes from local artists, businesses, and crafters including artwork, artisan jewelry, handbags, tickets for local festivals, music lessons, gift certificates, and more!  Tickets are available in advance at Expressions of Boone on Howard Street for $5 or five for $20. Prizes will be announced the evening of the event.
