June 18, 2014. Moral Monday protesters returned to the N.C. General Assembly in Raleigh when the legislature convened in May. Those protests are likely to resume until the session adjourns at the end of this month.

This past Monday activists, who couldn’t make it to Raleigh, stood on the stairs leading to the Jones House “to publicly express their concern about funding and program cuts to health care, education, workers wages/unemployment compensation and other issues that more strongly affect our lower income neighbors,” said Marjorie McKinney, coordinator of the Watauga County Forward Together movement, in an email.

Watauga County Forward Together spawned off of the Moral Monday movement last year.
