Monday Night Concert Series in Blowing Rock Presents Amy Marie Young and Shannon Venable July 22

July 16, 2013. Monday Night Concert Series in Blowing Rock, now in it’s 14th year, will present the third of five concerts on Monday, July 22. The originator of the series, Amy Marie Young, will be performing along with cabaret singer Shannon Venable, and well-known Barter Theater music director and pianist, Steve Sensenig. 

85960030Young has relocated back to the US after teaching music for three years in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She created the Monday Night Concert Series after the close of Blowing Rock’s Farm House Inn and Restaurant (a restaurant that hired singing waiters from local colleges). The goal was to continue providing cabaret style music much in the style of the former Farm House for visitors and residents of the High Country. The series now features local talent and Farm House Alumni. 

Both Young and Venable are former Farm House singers. They both attended Appalachian State University where they studied classical voice. Young has performed professionally in New York city and in Buenos Aires and Venable has an extensive background in cabaret music from her time performing on cruise ships. 

The Monday Night Concert Series takes place in the Broyhill Park off of Clark Street in Blowing Rock. These park concerts offer a relaxed, casual atmosphere for guests and residents of Blowing Rock to enjoy free entertainment. Each show will feature various types of music from jazz, musical theater and more contemporary music. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. and audiences are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket for their comfort.
