Monday Music Mash-Up; Our Listing of Live Music from Around the High Country for the Week of Oct. 27-Nov. 2

Oct. 27, 2014. Nothing says autumn like live music, and the High Country has enough live music events to keep you tapping your toes all season long. Each week, the Monday Music Mash-up is your go-to spot to find the latest news on concerts, shows and gigs all throughout the High Country. Check out the website every Monday for the latest lineup, and make a plan to enjoy some tunes this fall.

imgresOn Tuesday, Oct. 28, head out to the Bayou Smokehouse and Grill for the free Concerts in the Courtyard. Enjoy the music stylings of the Whip Daddys and a free wine tasting every single week! Featured wines are always 10 percent off with wine amnesty offered. The Bayou is located at 130 E. Main St. in Banner Elk. For more information call 828-898-8952.

The Watauga Community Band will hold their weekly rehearsal on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the rehearsal hall at the Broyhill Music Center. The band performs several concerts of various styles of music throughout the year, and is open to community members who play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. ASU and CCC students may receive class credit if desired.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, Lost Province Brewing Company will host live music featuring Ashton and Kennedy, with no cover charge. The music will start up at 8 p.m.

Calling all pirates, princesses and children of all ages! The Town of Boone, the Downtown Boone Development Association, the Watauga County Library and the Jones House Community Center are delighted to host the 14th annual Downtown Boone BOO! , a Halloween family friendly event on Friday, Oct. 31, from 4-6 p.m.

On Friday, Oct. 31, The Hayes School of Music organ studio at Appalachian State University will present its 7th annual Halloween Monster Concert. Admission is free and the public is invited. Costumes are encouraged. Featured during the evening will be Bach’s famous “Toccata and Fague in d minor” with special audience participation, the singing of “pumpkin carols,” a silent movie with organ accompaniment, free candy, costume contests and more.

Twig’s Restaurant in Blowing Rock hosts live music every Friday and Saturday night, from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. featuring great local and regional artists with no cover charge.

On Saturday, Nov. 1, the weekly Blues Porch Jam will take place at the Blue Ridge ArtSpace. This Blues-Centric Jam Session features the Blues but caters to the whims, interests, and favorite tunes of those present. Musicians, vocalists, foot-stompers, groupies – all are welcome to this unplugged (no amps) session each Saturday afternoon.

Lost Province Brewing Company will present live music featuring Mountain Radio with no cover charge on Saturday, Nov. 1. The music will get started at 8 p.m.

The Ashe County Arts Council is pleased to bring the up and coming Malpass Brothers to the stage of the Ashe Civic Center on Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature old-style country music, rockabilly, bluegrass and a little bit of gospel and blues.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, the Green Park Inn’s Music on the Veranda will present Dale and Jordan Williams starting at 5 p.m. For more information about this event, call 828-414-9230.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, Canyons in Blowing Rock will host the weekly Sunday Jazz Brunch with Todd Wright. Starting at 11 a.m., the event will feature live jazz music at Canyons located at 8960 Valley Blvd. in Blowing Rock. For more information about this event, call 828-295-7661.
