Monday, March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day; Check Out All the High Country Happenings for The Irish Occasion

March 13, 2014. Residents and visitors of the High Country will be seeing green this weekend. St. Patrick’s Day is on it’s way, this year coming on Monday, March 17. If you’re still looking for something fun to do to celebrate the holiday, don’t get green on us. Just check out our list of events throughout the High Country and make it a St. Patrick’s Day to remember. 

Watauga County

Boone:

The Town Tavern: The Boone Town Tavern will open at 4 p.m. for St. Patrick’s Day. Corndogs and French fries will be on special for $2.50 from noon to 4 p.m. After 4 p.m., the Town Tavern will serve 45-cent wings. There will be many beer specials throughout the night, and even special on Fireball shots.. For more information, call 828-264-2226. 

imgresAppalachian Mountain Brewery: Appalachian Mountain Brewery in Boone will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day March 17, with $2 green beer pints and live music from Dr. Bacon. Char: Char in Boone will present a special Irish-inspired menu for St. Patrick’s Day. Drink specials include $1 Jell-O shots, $2 draft green beer, $3.50 Guinness draughts and $4 Jameson shots. The Irish-inspired offerings include Guinness fried onion rings, Guinness wings, shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage, espresso-dusted ribeye and more. Murphy’s: Murphy’s in Boone will celebrate the occasion with Irish-inspired offerings including corned beef and potato soup. Live music for the night will be provided by the Lost Ridge Band from 6 to 9 p.m. followed by Big Daddy Love, which will perform from 10 p.m. to close. There is a $5 cover for the 10 p.m. show. Blowing Rock

Appalachian Ski Mtn: Appalachian Ski Mtn. will host a St. Patrick’s Day Jam with High Fives and Nightrain on Sunday, March 16. This year, the Alpine Ski Shop will collaborate with the High Fives foundation & Nightrain Clothing to bring you a better St. Patrick’s day Park Jam than ever and support a great cause. Bring your green hat! This will be the second season of the Park Jam, which was conceptualized by our Alpine Ski Shop, who will be providing some AWESOME prizes for standouts thanks to Line, Saga, Anon, Burton, Roxy, Giro, and Nightrain. Registration is from 9:30-11:30 a.m. with the event starting at 12:30 p.m. 

The Green Park Inn: On Saturday, March 15, the Green Park Inn will host a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.

Enjoy a Corned Beef Dinner in the Grille and Tavern, and then join Blowing Rock’s own Irish Tenor, Rupert Flaherty, singing the classics around Charlie Ellis’ piano, while enjoying an Irish Coffee or two starting at 6 p.m. For more information, click here or call 828-414-9230.

Luck o’ the Lassie: The annual Luck o’ the Lassie celebration is a festive event designed to honor Girls on the Run of the High Country coaches and sponsors and to also raise funds to support scholarships for participants in the program. Tickets for the event include a selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres from the Best Cellar, a wine tasting, an olive oil and bread tasting from The Art of Oil and Stickboy, and a live auction featuring hotels and resort vacations, restaurant gift certificates, tickets to local and regional attractions and ASU sporting events. Mountain Home Music: Mountain Home Music will present a St. Patrick’s Day Benefit Concert on Sunday, March 16 beginning at 4 p.m. The concert will be held at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum in Blowing Rock. The concert is free for all guests, but a $20 donation is requested.
