May 14, 2013. Comprised of two brothers, the Michigan-based The People’s Temple will perform at Black Cat in downtown Boone on Wednesday night. Local band of brothers Slopes will play as well.

Travis Reyes, co-owner of 641 rpm, said the duo from Lansing “cranks out songs that have an eerie sense of familiarity without being painfully derivative.”

He added that the band’s latest LP More for the Masses on Hozac Records, “strokes of VU, The Byrds, Gary War and countless others paint a broad set of songs with hooks that won’t leave your head.”

The 18- and up-show starts at 9:30 p.m. and has a $5 cover.
