April 10, 2014. On April 3, narcotics detectives from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office conducted a vehicle stop and seized methamphetamine from the passenger, Derick Shane Canter. Canter also had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest.
Canter, 20, of 277 North Woods Road in Boone, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, larceny of a firearm, and obtaining property by false pretense. Canter was taken to the Watauga County Detention Facility in lieu of a
$20,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in District Court on May 14, 2014.
