Artists’ Reception at Carlton Gallery on Saturday

Visit Carlton Gallery for an artist reception from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday and join gallery owner and curator Toni Carlton in celebrating its 33rd Spring Group Exhibition with “The Landscape — Masculine and Feminine” by Kevin Beck and Amy Sullivan. The collection of landscape paintings expresses intensified realism and intuitive exploration of simplicity. Local artist Kevin Beck begins most of his work on location, even when snow is on the ground, and renders his landscapes to bring out the beauty found in all four seasons. The landscapes of Amy Sullivan are rendered using a process of oil and wax. She says she is fascinated with negative spaces contradicted by positive mark-making. Her large paintings are designed to capture this intrigue and paradox. Some gallery artists will be there to meet visitors and patrons and light refreshments will be served at this free reception.
