The community of Todd invites you to wrap up your summer adventures this Saturday, Aug. 29, with a performance by vocal and guitar musician Melissa Reaves.
This free concert will be open to the public and will feature two hours of rock and roll, groove and funk.
The event serves as the finale in a series of free music programs hosted this summer by the Todd Community Preservation Organization.
“Melissa Reaves has been delighting audiences throughout the U.S. for more than a decade with her rock, funk and rhythm and blues-based sound. Reaves is a powerful vocalist and guitar player whose style ranges from driving rock & roll to a funk and groove sound that lends itself to a diverse repertoire of originals as well as some occasional choice covers,” the TCPO website explains. “Performing over 200 shows per year, Melissa spends most of her time touring with her eclectic solo show as well as with the four talented musicians from her band. In January 2000, Melissa was chosen to participate in a ‘Women of the Millennium’ showcase at the MIDEM conference in Cannes, France and toured in both England and France which included opening for Robert Plant of Led Zepplin.”
She is well-known for her electrifying performances, which leave her fans screaming for more.
Reaves’ accomplishments also include winning the Lilith Fair Talent Search for the Charlotte area in 1999.
The concert will take place on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Cook Memorial Park off of Railroad Grade Road.
People are invited to bring chairs and blankets and rest a spell as they listen to great music in the peaceful downtown area of Todd.
Burgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks will also be on sale during the concert.
