Boone Board of Adjustment will meet on May 23 to hear a variance request from Templeton Properties regarding a culvert installation for a future development on N.C. 105.
The application notes that a culvert for 140 linear feet of stream will be installed to redevelop the property. Planning documents indicate that 4,800-square-foot automobile rental office and vehicle storage are planned for the property.
Phil Templeton of Templeton Properties said that he owns about 10 acres in between the Sunrise Grill and the Highland Crossing shopping center that features Goodwill. The property is identified as 1645, 1647 and 1655 N.C. 105 on the Board of Adjustment agenda.
Templeton confirmed that an auto rental agency is in the current plans and that much of the property will used for vehicle storage: “A good rental agency has to have at least 50 cars in the parking lot.”
An Enterprise rental agency is currently located in Boone just a few blocks down the highway. It’s unclear what company would occupy the property in question. As of right now, nothing is official and the variance request is the next step in the process of redeveloping this property.
The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. on May 23 in Council Chambers on Blowing Rock Road. See meeting packet here.
