Man Flees From Avery Law Enforcement on ATV

LewisJune 24, 2014. On June 11, Avery County Sheriff’s Office was advised of a larceny in progress near Squirrel Creek Road.  The caller advised that Jonathan Lewis was the suspect and that he was running from the caller’s residence. Victim stated that Lewis had stolen several items and left on a ATV.  Avery County Sheriff’s Office had outstanding warrants for Jonathan Lewis and attempted to locate Lewis.

Officers saw Lewis on a four-wheeler and attempted to stop Lewis by blue light and siren.  Lewis left the area on the four-wheeler and deputies were unable to locate that evening.

On the evening of June 12, deputies returned to the area to attempt to locate Lewis. Officers followed up on information about Lewis’ location and located the four wheeler but Lewis was not with the vehicle.

Upon receiving information as to Lewis’ possible whereabouts, officers advised other law enforcement agencies in the surrounding area about a vehicle Lewis was occupying.

The vehicle was later stopped by Watauga County Sheriff’s Officers and Lewis was in vehicle.  Lewis was transported to Avery County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony larceny, fleeing to elude arrest and fail to heed light and siren.
