Feb. 18, 2014. Sheriff James Williams reports that detectives from the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office has charged 31-year-old James Ezra Atkinson in the shooting into a home that occurred in August of 2012.
On Aug. 18, 2012 the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office received information that someone had driven by a residence on Andy Fowler Road in Crumpler, firing several rounds from a weapon into the home.
A 17-month investigation has resulted in charging James Ezra Atkinson of West Jefferson with firing a .25 caliber pistol into the home while the residence was occupied. Atkinson has mutliple Felony convictions which doesn’t allow him to be in the presence of any firearm.
James Ezra Atkinson was charged with Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling (Class D Felony) and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon (Class G Felony).
Warrants for Atkinson’s arrest were issued on Feb. 3, 2014 and have not been served. Atkinson is currently serving prison time for prior convictions.
