LMC Performing Arts to Host Aug. 31 Lecture, Dance Exhibit with Sandi Solomon, Tony Luis

On Wednesday, August 31, the Lees-McRae Performing Arts department will partner with dancers Sandi Solomon and Tony Luis to present “The Joys of Partner Dancing,” a lecture, dance exhibit and opportunity to learn. The event will be held from 4 – 5:20 p.m. in the dance studio located in the Performing Arts Building.

Sandi Solomon started her dancing career at a young age. By the time she was 12, she was dancing in shows for veterans at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC. As an adult, Sandi was dance coordinator for “To Sea With Z,” where she recruited and evaluated dance hosts and instructors for cruise ships that sailed around the world. After first meeting 25 years ago, Tony Luis and Sandi are now sweethearts and full-time dance partners who enjoy all types of ballroom dancing, including salsa, swing, hustle and country two-step. Tony and Sandi are living “the joy of partner dancing.”

In addition to Sandi and Tony’s presentation, Boone Shag Club representatives Chip Norwood and Anne Winkleman will give a shag lesson. The event on August 31 is free and open to the public.
