The Linville Falls Winery is hosting its second annual Wine for a Reason fundraiser on Saturday, April 11 to benefit the Autism Society of North Carolina.

The benefit fundraiser takes place from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 3 to 6 p.m., acclaimed picker Wayne Henderson will perform along side Helen White and Herb Key.

In addition to the tunes, wine and food will be available at the beautiful winery and vineyards. Fire in the Hole, a mobile brick-oven pizza company, will be on hand.

The kids and young at heart can also enjoy horseback riding, face painting and blue hair extensions. Also, a silent auction is taking place and some of the items include a photography sitting and horseback riding.

“People keep donating, so more things may be coming in later,” Linda Wiseman of Linville Falls Winery said.

The color blue represents autism and April is autism awareness month.

Linville Falls Winery staff is donating all of their tips to the benefit and a portion of sales will go towards the Autism Society of North Carolina, which is committed to providing support and opportunities to enhance the lives of those living with autism.

Wieseman said that one of the longtime employees of the company has a son with autism. Rebecca Hurst and her husband Eddie have a son named Mark that was diagnosed with autism.

Rebecca will be working the event and like all of the other staff will be donating any tips or donations to the Autism Society of North Carolina, while Eddie will be on hand with pamphlets and answering any questions regarding autism.
