On April 20, the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, NC DPS Probation and Parole, US Marshals Service, ASU PD, Boone PD and the NC SBI located a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory while conducting a warrantless search on Christopher Baird.
Baird, 28, of 1297 N.C. 194 South was arrested and charged when Officers located items consistent with those used in the Manufacture of Methamphetamine. Also charged in the incident is Leighkatherine Mina, 28, of the residence. Their charges include Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursor Chemicals and Conspiracy to Possess Precursor Chemicals.
Both Baird and Mina are incarcerated at the Watauga County Detention under $375,000.00 and $100,000.00, respectively. They both have a court date of May 12 at the Watauga County Courthouse.
Before this arrest Baird was on Probation for Possession/Distribution of Methamphetamine Precursors. His probation stemmed from numerous methamphetamine related charges, to include Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursor Chemicals and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Prior to this instance, another clandestine methamphetamine laboratory was located at the residence. The suspect charged and convicted in that incident was Charles Kevin Baird, Chris Baird’s father. He received a sentence of more than nine years for Manufacturing Methamphetamine and currently incarcerated at the Alexander Correctional Facility in Alexander County, NC.
