LETTERS / “Your Government” Rarely Represents Your Wishes

Dear Editor,

In 2008, an Army War College report warned that the military must be prepared for a “violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States,” which could be provoked by “economic collapse,” “purposeful domestic resistance,” “pervasive public health emergencies”, “loss of functioning political and legal order”, all related to dissent and protests over America’s economic and political disarray.

The reports use the words “terrorist” and “extremist” interchangeably saying “our government” considers “extremist” viewpoints identical to being a terrorist. John Lennon, Martin Luther King Jr., Patrick Henry, and Thomas Jefferson have historically been considered extremist.

For some speaking out might be risky but for most of us, it’s still pretty safe because our owners don’t care what we say; they’ve little time to waste with irrelevant commoners.

Skeptics don’t believe the comforting illusions that “consumers” use to get through their days. The word ignorant means you’ve been given information which you choose to ignore, usually for fixed beliefs. The definition of a human includes the ability to reason. Stupidity is an enemy without flanks. It’s best to break contact.

Fools often say: “You can’t enjoy freedom if you’re dead. It’s always better to be alive, no matter the cost”. They fail to mention that it’s difficult to enjoy being alive when you’re a modern feudal peasant whose future is controlled by corporatist madmen. You can’t enjoy freedom if you’re dead. Can you enjoy living if your freedom is fantasy? Freedom is much more than purchasing variety available from corporate feedlots: moo.

“Consumers” abandon responsibility for their survival to others rather than make the effort, and so tyranny thrives. Martial law in America will be presented as rational necessity; an “extreme solution to extreme times”. Its success will depend on how many wish to determine their future, and how many are cowards.

If torture is acceptable when it might save lives, then maybe it’s tolerable in other situations. If some freedoms are disposable in the name of security, then perhaps others are also. Government promises to keep you safe is an illusion revealed regularly. The only safety is that which you supply yourself by becoming self reliant, aware and tough minded. Ask an American Indian about some theoretical ruling body rescuing you, or trading freedom on the belief that promises will be kept.

Some believe we shouldn’t imagine “our government” capable of tyranny because “we’re the government”. That’s naive. “Your government” rarely represents your wishes. Both “parties” support identical globalist ideologies/actions, making a mockery of “elections” providing only approved “choices” for votes. “Our government”, isn’t us, anymore, chasing entirely opposite goals. It’s a proven lying, corrupt creature.

“Consumers” surrendered becoming tyranny’s chief defender. They support tyranny daily by using its banks, spending borrowed money with corporations that run things. The strategy of the middle class, the political base with formidable potential, who have so far accepted growing repressive police state measures, aught to be to withdraw consent in its form of shopping. Imagine what would happen if everyone cut their spending by ten percent, shopped only with local business, bought used at goodwill, and cooked their own food instead of fast food and so on.

Ideas so good they’re mandatory: “Our government” creates laws and agencies outside the power of the constitution/Bill of Rights/ Declaration of Independence, directly reducing your liberty, and then sends armed thugs to arrest/beat/murder citizens for violating those unconstitutional laws.

“Our government” forgets citizens’ support their agents by choice, not by force. Government agents aren’t taught the real roots of power in a free society. These agents believe law is absolute power which can’t be questioned by you. Law is mutual consent of the governed which has been revoked when those applying “laws” are unreasonable.

National security states generate external threats to justify massive military/intelligence budgets. The history of America’s unlawful military/intelligence actions means peace would threaten the criminals in “our” national security state. Peace would allow records to be released and questions asked about where money went. “National security” would no longer be a convincing reason to shut down criminal investigations. The Soviet Union collapse removed an anxiety but “our government” discovered terrorism, another fear to justify continuing wars.

There’s a strong anti-regime feeling among Americans who have the wisdom to separate their country, people, the ideals on which America was originally built, and the 1% of the population whose interests “our government” serves.

America’s big lies succeed because “our government” controls the media, investigations, and agencies creating the lies we’re sold. Inequality turned “our government” into a protection racket for the 1%. America has a more unequal income distribution than other advanced countries and much of this difference can be directly traced to government action.

Many “consumers” believe that every aspect of your life should be up for a vote and that if 51% say “Jump” you must obey or be crushed by “our” uniformed assassins. People believe a lie because they need, or fear it to be true. Superficial nationalism is used to divert us from our slide to the bottom.

Speak of these things and you’re branded a “conspiracy theorist”, crazy, or a “doomsday pessimist”. The politically correct American position is to live in the proper state of delusion as served on TV.

Government which can be removed without violence is Democracy and its opposite, Tyranny. When you vote without real, possible, change, the vote has no value. Is America a “democracy” when law and election outcomes are sold: when life must be rented at all levels? “Consumers” believe Congress is corrupt but their own representative is “fighting for him”.

Americans once said: ‘It’s a free country.’ You don’t hear that said anymore. If our “great unwashed” revolt it will be under the banner of some right wing monstrosity but that’s unlikely. They’re clueless and tuned-out as were Orwell’s proles. Americans are more worried about being able to fit into their plus sized Depends than rioting in the streets

You do the hokey pokey, and you turn yourself around, that’s what it’s all about.
