LETTERS / What Does It Mean To Live Under A Government That Lies To You?

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it.”

“No man’s life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session.” Mark Twain

Dear Editor,

Are the wars just, moral, and necessary? Are taxes fair? Is money being spent for legal purposes? You can’t know because “our government” lies. Lying governments are like abusive husbands. “Official” fairytales aren’t recognized or questioned by the “My country right or wrong” crowd. When have you been able to trust anything government said, and why did you?

Patriotism has come to mean believing the government’s story. Skeptics who use their free speech are called “extremists” by Homeland Security. When government lies to benefit special interests, government breaks trust, becoming arbitrary, dictatorial, and unaccountable. “Our free press” prefers money to truth, so government gets away with it and has gotten away with so much that it’s hard imagining anything that they couldn’t.

Americans are clueless about what’s going on in the world, especially “our Government’s” evil deeds. “Our government” attacks other nations, while we’re told that those people love, and admire us. Brainwashing works by only giving “consumers” information leading them to believe, seemingly of their own free will, what government wants. Most media that Americans see and hear is owned by six corporations that cooperate with government.

The corporate media is as skilled at lies as Pravda and Izvestia in the old Soviet days. Their “news” sells the myth that the Empire serves its targets bringing them free trade, democracy and Christianity, actually exporting violence, murder, and torture, justifying it by claiming they’re “exceptional”? The Empire is looking for domination. If they can get control peacefully, that’s fine. When they can’t, they use war.

Talking heads and government tells “Consumers” that some country is threatening you. That claim, without presentations to the contrary, leads many Americans to accept the war as necessary; a manufactured outcome, based on lies. Skeptics are dismissed because “our free press, serving as a watchdog on government abuse, would certainly expose any existing lies”. “Corporate” media has been selling lies for government for a long time. Americans, theoretically free, are easily convinced of the most transparently-absurd nonsense.

The Declaration of Independence says government gets their power from your consent. Do you consent to be lied to? What court would enforce a contract where one party doesn’t know what’s being agreed upon. With its lies, the Empire becomes a land occupied by force.

There are two kinds of people in this world, those that want to be left alone and those that won’t leave you alone. They want control and find power to do so. Power corrupts and it’s the corrupt that seeks power. This could be a small school board or “our fearless leader”. They won’t leave you alone.

Much of what you learn about history in school and see on TV are lies of omission, half truths, or outright lies. Current events as described on TV are frequently fictions from the Empire’s biased salesmen. Most of our wars have been based on lies. It’s easily discovered by exploring beyond your “official” American history books.

“Consumers” don’t see current events clearly. Most people are divided and conquered by their shallow group think, and they completely miss the bigger picture to their peril. For example, Women support the Hildabeast because she’s a woman, not caring that she is a lying, corrupt oligarch.

Voting only changes the players: not the game. People fool themselves into believing that everything will get better if they vote the right guy into office. The right guy quickly becomes the same guy and nothing changes. The “system” gives them another Big money stooge. Congress, despite record low approval ratings, doesn’t seem concerned. Big money owns them, and they like things the way they are.

Anger about government actions is directed at the president. That’s conveniently flushed away with a theatrical “election”. The “presidents” job is to take the heat for unpopular acts. The next “president” captures our attention with his own tricks. This tactic of the ruling elite is effective.

The government said it, so it must be so. “I don’t want to hear it, if it were true it would be on the TV, our government would never do that”. Intentional stupidity; “I don’t believe in conspiracies”, which spills from those who choose to remain naive children, and apparently believe that it’s America’s most compassionate citizens who enter the world of politics.

Children are being taught government gives us “special privileges called rights” According to homework being given to some 2nd graders.

The Empire/NATO tells us they’re “fighting for global peace”: how it might act if it were spoiling for war.

When it’s illegal to report illegal government acts, you’re being ruled by criminals. It happens here in the Empire frequently.

How stupid do “consumers” have to be not to realize a law they won’t let anyone read before passage, like the TTP, written in secret to enrich corporations, is a law that should never exist? What kind of government do we have when politicians change the rules whenever they want?

If you believe in freedom of speech, that must include views you don’t like. Stalin was in favor of free speech for approved opinion. If you’re really in favor of free speech, then you defend freedom of speech for those views you scorn, or you don’t support free speech.

As the newest “Freedom Act” was passed did you notice “consumers” were distracted with the renovation of Caitlyn Jenner? The Patriot Act was quickly replaced by something of little difference, and yet a sex change is the distraction. “Our free press” led you to believe that democracy was found and reinstalled.

The FBI was caught operating a secret Air Force to spy on Americans but “consumers” care more about keeping up with Kardashians. American Police killed over 500 people this year while “consumers” conversations are about celebrity foolishness and irrelevancies. “Consumers” cheer on their slave masters in front of their magic tube nightly and repeat, mentally, their visions of red, white and blue fluff. It’s easier to remain delusional. Coming to terms with the fact that you can be killed by the government which claims to protect you is difficult.

The only Americans without a powerful lobby group are average citizens.

Like the frog in a pot of slowly heating water who doesn’t realize he’s being boiled to death, its long past time for “consumers” to notice unaccountable government institutions focused on violence have become the threat.

“Consumers” forget that their “education” came from the same government that controls them with its “legal system”. The state made sure those schools taught nothing that would have actually informed “consumers” or hinder those running the scam. Law and order people don’t see that they’re supporting the opposite of the freedom they think they’re supporting.

The pentagon can’t tell us where 8.5 trillion dollars went. Why does government pass laws allowing for the poisoning of your water, food, and air? Unaccountable Governments are tyrannies; no matter how exceptional and indispensable they pretend to be: Contempt for and ignoring government at a broad level will only increase until collapse.

The same special interests which have driven all the recent Worlds Wars, unable to accept regional influence and a multi-polar world, will only settle for global control. Does anyone think the Chinese, or Russians, will accept America’s continued push for global domination on all affairs related to finance, economic, politics and military might?

The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself… Almost inevitably, he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable. – H. L. Mencken
