LETTERS / Open Letter From Boone Chamber About Proposed Business Park

Dear Editor,

Attached is an open letter to the Watauga County Commissioners in support of the proposed business park. Please call if you have comments or questions.  Would like the community to know of the Chamber’s position on future jobs for this generation and those yet to come. – Boone Chamber

Dear Commissioners:

Too often we reminisce about the past – wishing to bring back the ‘good old days;’ tolerate the present  – caught up in the hectic pace of our daily lives, and fantasizing about the future – “wouldn’t it be great if…?!”.  This is not always the most productive use of our time and energy!

Have you, like many of us, wished that your children and grandchildren would be able to find good paying jobs and life-long careers right here in the High Country?  Our generation has made the deliberate choice to make this our home – why not create the same opportunity for the next?

You and the citizens of Watauga County have a real opportunity to do something today to significantly impact many tomorrows – investing in a job-producing business park!

This will not be an overnight success!  Few things seldom are.  There will be development hurdles to address.  But, it will be a huge investment in the future.  That is what one generation always hopes for the next – leaving better options for future generations.

After hearing the due diligence report from McGill Associates, the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce enthusiastically  supports the purchase of the site on 194.   Purely as an investment, the price justifies the purchase.  But for its potential future contribution to the quality of life of the citizens of Watauga County, it might prove to be ‘priceless!’

Thank you for your leadership in visioning for our families’ future.

Yours truly,

Jason Triplett, Board Chair         Mike Holzworth, Chair Government Relations

Gillian Baker, Chair Business  Development           Dan Meyer, President/CEO
