Feb. 26, 2013. They say there is no such thing as a free lunch anymore, but there is such a thing as a free dinner. There are now less than eight hours to go to “Like” us on Facebook and be entered into a drawing to win a free dinner for two at the Bayou Smokehouse & Grill in Banner Elk.

bayou birthday adWe’re counting down the days until March 1, when we will celebrate our first birthday of HCPress.com. Technically, we launched on Feb. 29, 2012, but since we didn’t want to only have a birthday every four years, March 1 is close enough.

As we’ve been looking ahead to our birthday, we have been giving our readers a chance to win some great prizes by entering new Facebook “Likes” into drawings. People are already winning some great stuff, with Pam Foberg Perri winning a free dinner for two at Joe’s Jazzed Up in our first drawing and Glenda Hubbard winning a $100 gift card to Heavenly Touch Massage in our second drawing.

Now it’s your chance to win. Our third giveaway works like this. We’re keeping track of our new “Likes” between 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, through 10 p.m. this evening – and we will put those names in a hat and pull out a winner. We’ll announce the winner on our website on Wednesday and start another contest for another giveaway for those who like us from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening.

If you want some great Cajun food, you definitely want to get in on this. Bayou Smokehouse serves up authentic Louisiana and Texas cuisine like gumbo, po’ boys, Bayou Smokehouse Ribs, chicken-fried steak with cream gravy, or Texas-style smoked beef brisket barbecue.

With Friday marking our first birthday, it will also mark the last prize giveaway for new “Likes,” and the final prize will be a gift card to Haircut 101. Next week, we will be offering up some special prizes for the 2,000-plus people who have been with us on Facebook since the beginning. Stay tuned for that.

For the past year, we have been sharing on Facebook our best stories of the day – from breaking news to wild weather stories to upcoming events – and we will never bombard you with so many updates it clutters your news feed. And you can always set your privacy setting as you wish. Our intention is to just keep you updated with breaking news and bulletins as they happen across the High Country.

From all of us here at HCPress.com, we thank you for following us. Whether you just recently became a fan or have been with us since back before we went all-online, your support is greatly appreciated.
