SUNDAY: Lees-McRae’s Summer Theatre Presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Lees-McRae Summer Theatre is known throughout the High Country for bringing incredible performances by talented actors and actresses to the community. The 2017 summer performance season will not disappoint. For the Theatre’s first major performance, they will be telling the tale of Joseph and his amazing technicolor dreamcoat.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat takes a classic biblical story and revamps it with modern themes, music and humor.

”[It is] a huge comedy show with great dancing and music,” said Janet Barton Speer, writer of the play. “Everything is funny and the music is engaging.”

This is going to be the Summer Theatre’s largest production. They have had to create stadium seating specifically for it. The cast has come from all over the country, as far as California to New York but also features many local Lees-McRae students and alumni.

The local Women and Children choir also helps to create a new feel not only to the story but to the summer production.

The show will be June 27th through the 30th at 7 p.m. and June 25th and July 1st and 2nd at 2 p.m. in the Hayes auditorium at the Broyhill theatre.

Adult tickets start at $35 dollars and student/childrens tickets start at $18. For more information or to purchase tickets you can call 828-898-8709 or visit the website at http://www.lmc.edu/community/summer-theatre/index.htm.
