BANNER ELK, N.C. — Tickets are now available online for the 2017 Lees-McRae Summer Theatre series which will kick-off on June 25 with several performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor DreamcoatMillion Dollar Quartet and Legally Blonde The Musical.

Individual show tickets range in price, per person, from $35-40 for adults, to $18-20 for students and/or children. Season ticket prices, per person, range in price from $112.08 for premium seating to $96.09 for general seating.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be the first show to perform from June 27 through the 30 at 7 p.m. at the Lees-McRae Hayes Auditorium and Broyhill Theatre with additional shows on June 25, July 1-2 at 2 p.m.

Joseph, a boy blessed with prophetic dreams, is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock ‘n’ roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.

The Tony award-winning musical, Million Dollar Quartet, will be next in line showing from July 12 until the 15 at 7 p.m. as well as July 13, 15 and 16 at 2 p.m.

Set on December 4, 1956, when an extraordinary twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. Relive the era with the smash-hit sensation featuring an incredible score of rock ‘n’ roll, gospel, R&B and country hits.

Legally Blonde The Musical will take to the stage last, but certainly not least. The show will perform July 28 and August 1-2 at 7 p.m. as well as July 29-30 and August 3-4 at 2 p.m.

Based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical (PG-13) stays true to form with a peppy score. Elle Woods’ life is turned upside down when her boyfriend dumps her so he can get serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, she uses her charm to get into Harvard, but then realizes her intellectual potential and sets out to prove that when you stereotype, you usually get it wrong.

New to the lineup this year will be the show, Screen Test–a theatre performance for young audiences. Showing on June 17 and July 1, 8 and 22, all shows will begin at 10 a.m. and are $10 for general admission.

In response to the ever growing rise in technology, Screen Test gently reminds children that too much time spent with these technological addictions can be detrimental to a healthy lifestyle.

Lees-McRae Summer Theatre Artistic Director, Janet Speer, shared her excitement for this year’s performances.

”Since each production brings about new people, new design personnel and new creative efforts, it is something akin to starting a piece of art on a fresh canvas,” she said. “I am particularly excited about Joseph’s 40 plus children. These kids will be our artists and patrons of the arts in the future. Without the arts we are hollow indeed and it is a great privilege to create ‘new paintings’ every summer.”
