DownloadedFileWrapping up another fantastic summer of theatre will be Singin’ in the Rain. You remember the plot. You love the characters. You know the song. It’s no less than the stage adaptation of one of the most celebrated and beloved films of all time.

“When I was a child, my mom took me to see Singin’ in the Rain and I was hooked,” said Dr. Janet Barton Speer, director for Singin’ in the Rain and founder of Lees-McRae Summer Theatre.

“It has been my dream to direct it, but I had to find just the right people to pull it off. Now we have the team that can produce this musical classic.”

1920’s Hollywood is the setting for this Zany, light-hearted romantic comedy about the early days of sound film, when many a movie studio found itself scrambling to salvage the career of its chipmunk-voiced silent picture star.

Singin’ in the Rain will be performed on the following dates and times: August 5, 7, 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 4,8 and 10 at 2 p.m.
