Lees-McRae College to Host 10th Annual REEL ROCK Film Tour on Campus Friday Night

Lees-McRae College Outdoor Programs is excited to host a showing of the 10th annual REEL ROCK Film Tour on Friday, Sept. 25. An opening reception complete with information booths will be held beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Evans Auditorium in the Cannon Student Center at Lees-McRae College. The main event, including short film premieres, will begin at 8 p.m.

We are also excited to announce that the Beech Mountain Brewing Company will be donating samples of their craft beer during our opening reception. A big thank you to the Beech Mountain Ski Resort for their support!

The REEL ROCK Film Tour is free for all Lees-McRae students, faculty and staff. It is also open to the public with an $8 suggested donation.

This year’s REEL ROCK includes exclusive premieres of short films by co-founders Sender Films and Big UP Productions that tell the stories of the most exciting vertical achievements from the past year, including an epic traverse across the jagged peaks of Patagonia, a rowdy pumpfest at 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell, and an exclusive look at the history-making Dawn Wall free ascent. REEL ROCK 10 will feature athletes Tommy Caldwell, Kevin Jorgeson, Alex Honnold and Daniel Woods, with a special tribute to the late Dean Potter. Audiences will share in moments of hilarity, struggle and triumph as these hardcore and often larger-than-life climbers take on awe-inspiring challenges.

The event is designed to bring together those who share a love and passion for the outdoors to be inspired by amazing footage of climbers and adventure enthusiast pushing themselves to the limit. Along with the films, information booths will be set up in the back of Evans Auditorium. The booths will include the Mast General Store, Footsloggers, Rock Dimensions, North Carolina Outward Bound School, Misty Mountain Threadworks, The American Alpine Club (Southeast Division), Carolina Climbers Coalition, Regear and Center 45. The REEL ROCK Film Tour at Lees-McRae College will benefit the Carolina Climbers Coalition and the Lees-McRae Competition Rock Climbing Team.
