Last Chances to See Films, Boone Film Festival Events Continue This Evening and End Saturday

Boone Film Festival’s award ceremony will take place on Saturday.

The 2018 Boone Film Festival started on October 30th and is drawing to a close for the 3rd year. Tonight and tomorrow feature the last films from the 31 films selected. Over 50 films were submitted from across the U.S. and 7 different countries.

Tonight, three films will be shown in Belk Library, Room 114 for free. Tomorrow afternoon, three more films will be shown in Room 114 for free. The final films will be shown tomorrow evening in the Schaefer Center.

Three categories of film will be judged: Appalachian Culture, Appalachian Adventure and Appalachian Environment. There was also a youth category, which was shown yesterday at Watauga High School’s Ross Auditorium.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday after the evening screenings.

Five awards will be awarded: Best in Show Appalachian Region Film ($1,500 cash prize), Best Culture Film ($750 cash prize), Best Adventure Film ($750 cash prize), Best Environment Film ($750 cash prize) and Best Youth Film Submission ($750 cash prize).
