The Last Chance to Take Your Children to See “Marmalade Gumdrops” Is This Saturday, July 28

By Hailey Blevins

This summer, Ensemble Stage, as part of Kids Summer Saturday Theatre, has presented “Marmalade Gumdrops.” As we draw closer to the end of July, we also draw closer to the end of this creative and entertaining show.

One more show time is coming up before this show ends. On Saturday, July 28 at 11 a.m., bring your children and their friends to Hahn Auditorium at the Banner Elk Cultural Arts Center to see this memorable show. Tickets for this show are only $6 each.

This show is approximately 45 minutes of wonderful storytelling about a boy cleaning and his adventures in his room as he does so. For the adults attending with their children, this show is bound to remind you of the wonders of childhood imagination and bring back some memories of your own childhood.

Carol Lauck wrote this show, which is subtitled “where imagination comes to life.”

Summary of the Show from the Website:

Wally tries to clean out old toys from his toy box with the help of some of his furniture. Led through fun filled antics by Governor Winthrop, his gumdrop popping desk; Libby Bibliophile, his instructive bookcase; Clair Beam, his not too bright lamp Bedelia Cotter, his yawning bed; and Windsor, his stuffy chair; Wally moves swiftly through delightful experiences with wind up dolls and old fashioned melodrama, a circus, story telling, and even a time machine.
