King-Shivell Gallery at Lees-McRae College Hosts Reception for Faculty Art Show Feb. 20

Feb. 18, 2015. On Feb. 20 from 5 – 6 p.m., Lees-McRae’s King-Shivell Gallery will host a reception for the faculty art show, Across Borders. The featured faculty artists will be available to discuss their work. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public. The exhibit will be on display until Feb. 27.

“Across Borders faculty [art] show exemplifies the many degrees of talent across campus,” said Jason Sabbides, assistant professor of Communication Arts and Design and manager of King-Shivell Gallery. “No longer are we dominated by just the art department showcasing their art. We have faculty from the art department, performing arts, English and our very own Lees-McRae [counseling services director] in this current show. Across Borders is the beginning of what will be a norm for future faculty shows.”

In future shows, any Lees-McRae faculty or staff member will be allowed to showcase their creative talents for the campus and surrounding community.

The Across Borders art exhibit showcases work from Lees-McRae faculty members Melissa Ball, Mindi Bishop, Michael Joslin, Jesse Knight, David Craven, Peter Paglen and Jason Sabbides, among others. A wide variety of mediums will be featured including beading, intaglio, mixed media, painting, photography and video movies.
