Kid Accidentally Shot By Another Kid on Halloween in Zionville, No Adults Present

By Jesse Wood

A 13-year-old boy was shot in Zionville on Halloween in what appears to be an accidental shooting involving another adolescent.

According to a report from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, a 13-year-old boy was handling a shotgun out of the presence of an adult when another 13-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen.

The incident occurred on the 700-block of Camp Joy Road, and first responders met with the family and victim at Valley Grocery in Zionville. The victim was flown to Johnson City Medical Center, where the last available information has the victim listed as stable.

According to Sheriff Len Hagaman, the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office isn’t releasing more details because of privacy and HIPAA laws involving juveniles. Both kids are from Tennessee.
