June 8 Marks Opening Day for Todd Summer Music Series; Season to Open with the King Bees

by Madison V. Fisler

June 4, 2013. The day that many in the High Country have been waiting for is almost here! The opening day for the long-anticipated Todd Summer Music series is set for June 8, and the opening band is scheduled to be a fittingly local band, The King Bees.

The Todd Summer Music Series has been a summer tradition for over ten years, said Helen Barnes-Rielly, a board member of the Todd Community Preservation Organization.

DownloadedFileEach Saturday evening during the warm summer months, bands are welcomed to the  stage at the James “Crow” Parsons Pavillion at Cook Park. Centrally located within the historic district of the town, the beautiful setting comes alive with bluegrass, americana, rock and roll and more at 6:00 p.m. Each concert is free of charge and family friendly, but donations are accepted at each concert and are greatly appreciated.

Patrons are encouraged to bring the whole family, a few lawn chairs and even a friendly Fido with them to enjoy the concert in the warm summer air. Also available at the concert will be refreshments for purchase like hot dogs, snacks and drinks. All proceeds from the refreshment sales will go toward donations to keeping the summer music going at Cook Park.

The Todd Summer Music Series is presented by the Todd Community Preservation Organization, a nonprofit organization established in 1999 to develop a sustainable community while preserving the culture, history and natural beauty of the town. The music series is free to attend, but donations are encouraged and most appreciated. The organization depends on the donations of patrons and generosity of sponsors to present the music series each year.
