Join Your Local Police Officers for the 35th Annual National Night Out this Tuesday, August 7th

Neighborhoods throughout the High Country are invited to join over 38 million neighbors across approximately 16 thousand communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide.

National Night Out is nationally sponsored by NATW, Dietz and Watson, Ring, Associa, Package Guard and co-sponsored locally by Banner Elk and Beech Mountain Police Departments.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Together, we are making that happen.

From 5p.m. to 8p.m., neighbors throughout the High Country and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and law enforcement.

Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most communities celebrate National Night Out by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.

National Project Coordinator, Matt Peskin said, “This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”

This year the event will be hosted on the grounds of the Historic Banner Elk School. We will have music provided by DJ Alan, games, hotdogs, ice cream and representatives from law enforcement, judges, and elected officials from all over the High Country. If you have any questions, or would like to participate please contact: Kevin Hodges, Banner Elk Police Chief, 828-898-4300 or by email khodges@townofbannerelk.org
