Blowing Rock Hosts Plethora of Special Events for Author Jan Karon; Meet and Greet, Tea, Concerts and More!

by Madison Fisler Lewis

Sept. 12, 2014. Tent space for the Jan Karon meet and greet at Chetola Resort Sept. 14 is currently filled. But have no fear, Mitford Series lovers, there is still plenty to do to celebrate the release of the newest book in the series, “Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good.”

“We have seating for roughly 370 people and that has been filled to capacity for a few weeks now,” said Marcia Greene, director of marketing at Chetola Resort.

The event is free and will be held in a lakeside tent on Chetola Lawn. Currently, the event has reached its capacity; however, anyone interested in attending is asked to call the Chetola Concierge at 828-295-5509 to inquire about cancellations.

Any seats not taken will be given out. Jan will to an interview onstage with the president of her fan club for about 20 minutes. After that there will be a question and answer session and a meet and greet session where Jan will set in a common area and everyone can line up to talk to her and get a picture taken. When they leave there, they can go to a truck that has been sent down and there are copies of the book that have been pre-signed by Jan. The books will be sold at regular retail price.”

Local Author Jan Karon is the New York Times-bestselling author of 23 books including the Mitford novels, the Father Tim novels, a popular cookbook, the Mitford Bedside Companion and several books for young readers.

The event is sponsored by Putnam & Penguin Publishing, the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, the Blowing Rock Tourism & Development Authority and Chetola Resort at Blowing Rock.
