May 12, 2014. There are just a few days left to register for the second annual Mountaineer Mud Run at the High Country Fairgrounds this weekend.
“We already have several hundred people signed up to race,” said Kenny Johnson, who coordinates the mud runs.
“Though not as many as last year. We think that its because all the students are done with school around this time, but we are expecting a big crowd this weekend.”
The second annual Mountaineer Mud Run is expected to draw an even bigger and even muddier crowd than the first run which was held in September of 2013. The run, which drew hundreds of athletes to the High Country Fairgrounds to compete last year, returns with a vengeance on Saturday, May 17.
Traditional mud run lovers will rejoice at this event, which features races for teams and individuals over muddy terrain and obstacles that will challenge even the most seasoned athlete.
Registration for single racers prior to April 30 is $40 and $50 through May 15. Registration for teams of four is $160 prior to April 30 and $200 through May 15.
