The former Frogurt and Quiznos property beside IHOP will be home to a Hungry Howie’s franchise in the future.

Last year, Eric Fairbanks, owner of multiple Hungry Howie’s franchises, secured a permit for culvert replacement on the Blowing Rock Road property with Boone Planning and Inspections. Now, building renovations are currently ongoing.

The former owner of the property racked up $65,000 in fines for violating the town’s Unified Development Ordinance by not fixing sinkholes on the property in a timely fashion.

Fairbanks didn’t return a recent message. When speaking with Fairbanks last August, he said he was unsure yet if he would relocate the Hungry Howie’s currently operating in Boone or open a second Hungry Howie’s location in town.

Fairbanks owns nine Hungry Howies franchises in the Charlotte area, one in Gastonia, and a Hickory location is under construction – as of last summer.

“Boone is one of our better markets. I love the area,” Fairbanks said.
