Hunger and Health Coalition Hosts 4th Annual Masquerade Ball on Friday, Oct. 26

The Hunger and Health Coalition is hosting its fourth annual Masquerade Ball in order to raise funds for programs geared toward Watauga county residents in need. The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 26 at the Blowing Rock Country Club from 6:30 to 11 p.m.

The Masquerade Ball is the Hunger and Health Coalition’s largest fundraiser, and for good reason. The event has a multitude of attractions, such as hors d’oeuvres, costumes, drinks and performances from the Appalachian Musical Theatre Ensemble. This year, there will also be fortune tellers, tarot card readers and other exciting surprises.

A costume contest will also take place. There will be five categories for judgement: most creative, funniest, most unique, scariest and best overall. The winner will receive a prize.

There will also be a silent auction at the event. Some sponsors for the silent auction include but are not limited to Appalachian Ski Mountain, Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Chetola Resort and Makoto’s. A full list of sponsors can be found at the bottom of the event’s website.

Additionally, there will be a wine pull, 50/50 drawing and gift certificate raffle.

The Hunger and Health Coalition seeks to provide the basic necessities for a comfortable lifestyle, focusing on the supply of food and medications. They utilize programs such as the Food Pantry, Food Recovery Kitchen, The Fresh Market, Free Pharmacy, Thanksgiving Dinner and the Sharing Tree Program. These programs help to ensure low-income Watauga residents are being fed and given life-sustaining medications instead of having to choose between one or the other; more information about the programs can be found at the Hunger and Health Coalition’s website.

The Hunger and Health Coalition accepts donations and offers a surplus of volunteer opportunities as well as internships.

The Masquerade Ball is a crucial event in helping sustain the programs within the Hunger and Health Coalition. It will be both exciting and philanthropic. Tickets can be purchased in advanced by clicking here. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $65.
